Multiplication Lesson that Integrates Podcasts

Directions for Creating a Podcast

  1. Students will film their video using their Flip Video Camera.  To Turn the camera on you press the button on the top right side.  To film you point it at what you want to film and you hit the red record button.  To stop recording you hit the red button again.  See tutorial below.
  2. Connect the Flip Video Camera to a computer  You release the USB connector by sliding the button on the left slide.  Plug the device into an available USB port on your computer. 
  3. Upload the video to the computer using the Flip Share Software.
  4. Go to http://podomatic.com
  5. Log in to your account.  (If you haven't already made an account you need to do that at this time).
  6. On the menu select Publish>Podcast>Create
  7. Enter a title for the podcast and a description. Hit Save & Continue.
  8. Select "Upload File"
  9. Click on "Select Some Files"
  10. Browse your files to find the video you want to upload.  Your video files are typically saved in the Flip Share Folder located within your Vidoe folder.  Once you found the file select it and hit open.
  11. Once the video has finished upload selected "I am finished uploading. Close this window". 
  12. If you want to upload a photo you may. Otherwise select "I don't want to select a photo. Skip this step".
  13. List tags to label your podcast. Hit Save and Continue.
  14. Next you are taken to the Review/Publish page.  If there are any changes you want to make, make them now. Otherwise just hit Save and Continue.
  15. To share the podcast on a class blog or webpage you will select "embed a player in your webpage" on the Promote page.  Copy the embed code. (Select the entire code and hit Ctrl C)
  16. Open up your blog or website editor and paste the code(Ctrl P). It is a good idea to password protect your website or blog to protect student privacy.
